Someone has said that the
Broughton Archipelago today
is what Desolation Sound was
like thirty years ago. It is just
being discovered by boaters
looking for a quiet anchorage
and abundant wildlife. Located
parallel to the northern end of
Vancouver Island, the
Broughtons are an easy run
from Port McNeill and Port
Hardy. They are, nevertheless,
remote. First Nations culture
is predominant with an
unforgettable museum in
Alert Bay and visits to Mimkwamlis.

This area is home to the northern resident pods of Orcas and offers some of the best opportunities in the Northwest to experience the joy of being with these magnificent animals.
